How to Keep a Hybrid Camper Cool
- 1). Keep the air in the camper circulating. Open all of the windows, especially on breezy days. Depending on the model of camper, you can install special vent covers over the roof vents that promote air flow.
- 2). Use sun shades to block out the hottest rays even when the winds are ajar. Although many campers have blinds installed, they may not be sufficient on days when the sun is very strong. Keep on hand a few removable shades that are made especially for cars or RVs.
- 3). Place small electric fans in the windows to try to create a cross breeze. You can buy battery-powered travel fans that you can either set on the window seal or hang from a hook above the window.
- 4). Park in shaded areas if possible or park by large bodies of water where winds might be higher. Beach breezes are especially good at keeping the camper cool. If you're reserving a space at an RV park, request a shady spot in advance.
- 5). Set up your awnings even if you're parked in a shady spot. These will provide additional protection from the heat.
- 6). Do your cooking outside. Avoid using appliances that give off excess heat.
