How to Rig Live Bait for Water Dogs
- 1). Load a medium-heavy action rod and reel with 8- to 10-pound test fishing line.
- 2). Cut a 2- to 3-foot section of line and set it aside.
- 3). Thread a sinker on the end of the fishing line. A 3/8-oz. bullet or walking sinker is a good choice.
- 4). Attach a barrel swivel to the line with a palomar knot. Pick up the section of line you set aside and tie it to the other end of the swivel.
- 5). Tie a No. 4 hook to the end of the leader.
- 6). Insert the point of the hook into the bottom of the water dog's jaw and push it upward and out the top of its mouth.
