Buzzbaits

• Buzzbaits are surface bass lures and must be fished on top of the water. They have a blade that spins as the lure is reeled in quickly, keeping it from going under.
  
  

Crankbaits

• Crankbaits are the opposite of buzzbaits in that they are designed to be fished under the water. Crankbaits have "lips" that make the lure dive to specific depths controlled by the angler fishing in deeper places.
  
  

Spinnerbaits

• Spinnerbaits are a shallow water lure with a blade, a large hook and a skirt of material that hides the hook. Spinnerbaits can be brought through weeds where bass are waiting to ambush their prey.
  
  

Plastics

• Plastic baits that resemble worms, frogs, lizards and crayfish are excellent bass lures. These baits are rigged different ways and fished very slowly in and around the weedy regions where bass lurk in a lake or river.
  
  

Topwater Lures

• Plastic frogs, mice, floating lures with propeller blades, poppers, plugs and crawlers are fished on the very top of the water, and will not sink. These lures are effective when the light is low and can trick a bass into thinking they are real.
