Maybe you go to parties and events and actually notice the person who is providing the musical entertainment for your night out or special occasion. And maybe you have such an interesting musical taste and collection that you feel compelled to share it with an audience. Well it is very possible to do so what with all the audio equipment now available to set yourself up with an affordable DJ package to get you started. First you will need to decipher what format you prefer to store and deliver your music.

Perhaps you are happy to go fully digital, using MP3 files straight from your laptop or handheld music device. Many music lovers and listeners claim that there is no difference in the quality of the sound of compressed MP3 files and therefore it does not make sense to bother investing in full resolution audio equipment and music formats. And your mixing equipment could also be digital and come from your laptop with one of the many software programs now available. Or you could go for a more tactile option of systems like Serato which give you the chance to mix with your hands like more traditional vinyl mixing methods.

Or perhaps you are more of an audiophile that prefers not to compromise audio quality and therefore opt for CDs and vinyl in your music collection. CDs are easier to transport and more readily available in terms of music. CD decks also respond to the touch so you can mix between the decks just as easily and sensitively. Vinyl is still a favourite format for many DJs today despite the weight of transportation and cost of purchasing records.

For some, the analogue quality of the sound of the grooves simply cannot be beat by digital means. Technics 1210 decks are still the firm favourite in terms of audio equipment choice for a vinyl DJ. And Pioneer mixers such as the Pioneer CDJ 850 [http://www.preciseaudiohire.com/dj-equipment/cdplayers/pioneer-cd-players/pioneer-cdj-850.html] are revered as the best DJ mixer on the market. Although you will have to be careful not to get too spoilt as once you go public such quality mixers may not be available. Some DJs would rather bring their own mixer or audio equipment to a gig. Of course, it ultimately comes down to preference and priorities for the DJ whether they decide to deliver their entertainment via digital or analogue formats. So do try well before you buy. And it may be that you want to go for a mix of formats depending on what music you are wanting to share on a particular occasion.
