Let's begin...

Gathering Your Supplies

Here are the supplies you need to make a hockey or ice skate:
You should also print out the template for the skate:

    Now we can start...

    Preparing Your Skate Pattern

First, you need to print out the skate template I created. If you want, you can play around with the size using a graphics program on your computer.

    Cut out the pattern piece...

    Cut Out Your Craft Foam

Trace the pattern piece onto the craft foam and then cut it out. I made one using white craft foam and one using black craft foam. You can use team colors or any other color you like...

Embellish Your Hockey or Ice Skate

You can now use dimensional paint to add details to your skate. Draw small markings to look like the skate's laces and stitch lines if you like. You can write your child's jersey number or name. You can also embellish it with other items.
Set the skate aside and let the paint dry completely...

Cut a piece of ribbon about 8-inches long. Tie it into a tiny bow and glue it to the skate as shown above. Clip off the long ends.
    Let the glue dry completely...

Once the glue is dry, flip your skate over and glue the paper clip to the bottom of the skate to look like the skate's blade. You can create inline skates instead by gluing 4 pony beads onto the front of the paper clip to look like 4 wheels.
You should also glue the pin back in the center. You can even use a medium-sized safety pin. If you want to make a magnet, simply glue a magnet to the back instead of a pin.

Let the glue dry completely, and then your pin or magnet can be displayed proudly.
