How to Disable the Check Engine Light on a Toyota
- 1). Check that the ignition is completely off to avoid any damage to your Electronic Control Module.
- 2). Pop up the hood of the vehicle, and locate the battery. Find the positive battery cable clamp, and loosen the retaining nut on the clamp with a wrench. Slide the clamp off of the terminal, and take care not to let it touch the negative side of the battery. Wait about five minutes.
- 3). Reconnect the clamp to the positive terminal, and tighten the nut with a wrench. Close the hood of the vehicle.
- 4). Start the engine. Watch the instrument panel to see if the Check Engine light has turned off.
