    • 1). Determine the best place and proper mount for the ladder. Choose a location away from the propeller. Examine the area under the deck to see if there is enough clearance and space to mount the ladder underneath the platform or whether it is necessary to mount it on top of the deck. It is best to mount it underneath and out of the way if possible.

    • 2). Determine the type of ladder composition that is best for your application. Ladders are generally built out of stainless steel or aluminum framework with composite or teak wood steps. Select the type that matches your swim platform design. Choose a ladder that will fold up out of the way when not in use.

    • 3). Place the ladder at the mounting location to check for any issues before drilling any holes. Drop the unit to the operating position to determine if it will be perpendicular to the water. Envision where the water line is and make sure that at least two steps will be under the surface of the water.

    • 4). Measure and drill the mounting holes for the ladder frame. Install a metal backing plate if additional support is required. Use the stainless steel hardware from the ladder kit to avoid corrosion and rust. Install the hardware with a screwdriver and open-end wrench. Apply a small amount of silicone around the mounting holes.

    • 5). Drop the ladder and carefully test it to make sure it will handle the required load.
