How to Replace Headlights on a 2000 Nissan Maxima
- 1). Raise the hood of your Nissan Maxima. Use the support rod to hold the hood up and out of the way.
- 2). Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, using a wrench. Secure the battery cable away from the battery so that it cannot contact the terminal.
- 3). Locate the headlight bulb assembly just inside the engine compartment of your Maxima. Grasp the wiring harness connected to the bulb, and pull it straight back to disconnect it from the bulb.
- 4). Push in on the center of the rubber cap on the bulb. Pull the cap off the bulb and set it aside. Push the retaining pin and turn it to remove it from the light assembly.
- 5). Grasp the bulb and pull it straight out of the headlight assembly. Do not twist or rotate the bulb when removing it.
- 6). Insert the new bulb straight into the assembly in the same orientation as the one you removed. Press the rubber cap back onto the bulb. Press the wiring connection back onto the bulb assembly.
- 7). Reconnect the negative battery cable, and tighten it with a wrench. Close the hood of the Maxima, and test the headlights to be sure they operate properly.
