Step-by-Step Instructions on Installing Memory in a Dell Latitude D600 Laptop
- 1). Shut down your computer from the "Start" button. Allow the computer to turn all the way off.
- 2). Pull the power cable out of the computer.
- 3). Remove all the cables and peripheral components from the computer.
- 4). Close the display and turn the computer base-side-up. Locate the battery at the top-right corner of the base.
- 5). Press the battery release latch on the left side of the battery and pull the battery out of the computer.
- 6). Locate the rectangular memory module compartment at the left of the battery bay and extract the screw from the cover.
- 7). Remove the cover to gain access to the memory modules.
- 8). Spread the clips on the sides of a memory module(s) and the module(s) will pop up at an angle.
- 9). Pull the module(s) out of the connector.

Insert a new memory module into the connector and then press it down so that the clips lock into the indentations on the sides of the module. - 11
Repeat steps 8-10 for both memory module connectors. - 12
Replace the memory module compartment cover and insert the screw to secure it. - 13

Turn the computer over and connect all the cables and peripheral components you removed in Step 3. Now the memory module installation is complete.
