    • 1). Turn the laptop over bottom-side up and slide the locking switch over and pull the battery out.

    • 2). Unfasten all the tiny screws from the bottom of the laptop using a precision screwdriver. Place them in a small container to keep track of them.

    • 3). Turn the computer over again so that the back plate faces you. Remove the screws from the back side of the laptop.

    • 4). Place the computer so the front faces you and open the screen. Insert the smallest precision flat blade in the pin hole on the left side of the plate and slide the panel to the left.

    • 5). Lift the top edges of the keyboard until you can see the data cable.

    • 6). Raise the securing tab of the data cable connector on the motherboard slightly and tug the cable free. Set the keyboard aside.

    • 7). Disconnect the video cable running to the LCD assembly.

    • 8). Lift the touch pad cable from the connector and raise the upper plastic assembly off the motherboard. Remove all the screws from the upper assembly side if the case doesn't pry off easily. Expect to hear slight snapping sounds as the tabs release the upper plastic. Lift the top plastic assembly along with the display assembly.

    • 9). Unfasten the screws that hold the DVD/CD device assembly from the motherboard. Disconnect the DVD/CD device cable and pull the DVD/CD device from the bottom assembly. Unscrew all the remaining screws from the top of the motherboard. Pull the cables at the front of the motherboard vertically up from the motherboard.

      Remove the two screws that hold the panel covering the CPU and heat sink. Lift the panel up and off. Unfasten the four screws from the bracket holding the heat sink and lift the heat sink from the CPU. Expect to feel some resistance as the thermal compound releases.

      Insert a flat blade precision screwdriver in the top corner seams to pry the motherboard from the bottom plastic. Lift the motherboard corners up. If you meet resistance, remove any forgotten screws from the motherboard.
