    • 1). Disconnect the computer from any available power sources and remove the case's side access panel. This may require the removal of two thumbscrews on the rear face of the computer.

    • 2). Locate the IDE side of the adapter. This side will house a connector that is identical to the connector found on an IDE cable.

    • 3). Insert the connector found on the IDE side of the adapter into the IDE connector on the IDE cable.

    • 4). Connect the motherboard end of a SATA cable into its socket on the motherboard.

    • 5). Connect a Molex power connector, the 4-pin white connectors from the power supply, to the drive's power socket.

    • 6). Connect the opposite end of the SATA cable to the SATA socket found on the opposite side of the adapter. The connectors on either end of the SATA cable are keyed so that only one end may be installed on the drive and the other on the motherboard itself.

    • 7). Replace the computer's side access panel and reestablish any previously severed electrical connections.
