    • 1). Measure the bottom of one of the toddler cowboy boots from heel to toe. Cut two lengths of 2-by-4 that are 2 inches longer than the sole of the boot.

    • 2). Sand the two lengths of 2-by-4 to smooth the cut edges as well as give the paint a better surface to adhere to. Blow the dust off the two boards.

    • 3). Paint the two boards a color that coordinates with the cowboy boots. Let the first coat of paint dry completely before adding another.

    • 4). Glue one boot onto each board using clear-drying epoxy. Let the epoxy cure for 48 hours.

    • 5). Trace the bottom of the bookends with tailor's chalk onto a piece of felt. Cut out the tracings and glue them to the bottom of the bookends with a low-temperature hot glue gun. This will protect your shelf from scratches.

    • 6). Place one leg of the women's nylons into one of the boots. Fill the leg with aquarium gravel until the gravel is an inch below the top edge of the boot. Tie a knot in the nylons and trim the leg. Repeat with the other boot to complete your set of bookends.
