How to Make a Spider Web for Toddlers

    Painted Web

    • 1). Cover a table in newspaper or old sheets that you don't mind getting dirty.

    • 2). Paint a paper plate black using any type of paint and allow it to dry completely. You may choose to do this step before involving the child.

    • 3). Place a few drops of white paint onto the surface of the plate. Have the child quickly tilt the plate from side to side. The white paint will spread in lines and create a design that looks like a spider web. There's no need for it to be exact or look a certain way.

    Glue Web

    • 1). Cut a black piece of construction paper into the shape of a spider web, which is like a rectangle with edges bent slightly inward.

    • 2). Draw three intersecting lines on the paper using white chalk. Have the child trace over your lines using a bottle of white glue.

    • 3). Sprinkle glitter onto the wet glue for a sparkling effect. Allow the glue to dry completely before moving the spider web.

    Yarn Web

    • 1). Cut several four-inch pieces of yarn and set them aside.

    • 2). Squeeze a large amount of white glue onto an empty paper plate.

    • 3). Dip each piece of string into the glue and have the child stick it to another paper plate. As you add more strings to your project, overlap them and create the design of a spider web.

    • 4). Dip the child's thumb into some paint and have him press it against the spider web. This will create a small spider on which you can draw legs.
