Changing A Citroen ZX Oil Filter

    • 1). Identify how much oil you will need based on the Citroen ZX engine model. The Citroen 1124 cc and 1360 cc models require 3.5 quarts of motor oil. The Citroen 1580 cc and 1905 cc models require slightly less thatn 5 quarts of motor oil. The Citroen 1761 cc model requires slightly less than 4.9 quarts of motor oil and the Citroen1998 cc model requires around 5.4 quarts of motor oil.

    • 2). Open the hood of your Citroen ZX and identify the location of the oil dipstick and the oil filter, as well as how much oil is required (based on model). The Citroen 1124 cc and 1360 cc oil dipstick is located on the left-front side of the engine. The Citroen 1580 cc and 1905 cc oil dipstick is located toward the middle-rear of the engine, beneath the air temperature control valve. The Citroen 1761 cc oil dipstick is located to the center-right and rear of the engine. The Citroen1998 cc oil dipstick is located near the middle of the engine and slightly to the front. The oil filter for all models of Citroen is located beneath the engine block, toward the front of the car.

    • 3). Warm up your car up for 10 or 15 minutes to ensure that the oil will flow easily. Locate the car's oil pan beneath the engine of the car. Slide your plastic oil container beneath the oil pan of the car and loosen the oil pan screw---remember to wear your plastic gloves---with the 8mm socket wrench. Allow all of the oil to drain from the vehicle into your oil retaining pan. Use rags to wipe up any spills and wipe the oil pan screw clean.

    • 4). Locate the oil filter and use the oil filter wrench to twist it free. Remember to keep the oil retaining pan beneath the filter, as the oil filter will be filled with oil as well. Once the oil filter is free, clean the filter sealing area on the engine block with a rag.

    • 5). Apply a light coat of engine oil around the sealing ring of the new filter and screw the new filter in firmly by hand.

    • 6). Remove the dipstick, loosen the oil filler cap and fill your engine with the appropriate amount of oil.

    • 7). Turn on your vehicle for 10 minutes and then turn it back off again. Use the dipstick to ensure that the oil level reaches the fill line.
