    • 1). Lay down newspaper or other disposable material, such as paper towels or a trash bag, over the surface where the ink will be refilled.

    • 2). Peel back the label at the top of the cartridge and locate the three holes on the top of the cartridge.

    • 3). Use a drill to enlarge the hole nearest to the copper strip. The hole is above the sponge at the bottom of the cartridge. If the cartridge is standing up, with the sponge side up and facing away, the hole is located on the top left side of the cartridge top. A screw may also be use to widen the hole.

If there is no hole, locate the same circle on the top of the cartridge, over the sponge, and place a hole there.

    • 4). Cover the other two holes with a piece of adhesive tape.

    • 5). Fill the syringe with 7 milliliters of the replacement ink.

    • 6). Use the syringe to refill the cartridge very carefully and slowly through the hole in the top. Repeat if needed to completely refill the cartridge.

    • 7). Remove the syringe and the tape, once the cartridge is refilled, and replace the label if possible. Place the cartridge in the printer.

    • 8). Allow the cartridge to sit for eight hours to allow the sponge to completely soak up the ink.

    • 9). Run the printer's cleaning cycle one to three times to ready the refilled cartridge for use.
