How to Clean an Oven With Burnt-On Foil Inside
- 1). Mix 1 cup apple cider vinegar and 2 tbsp. sugar in a bowl. Stir the ingredients until mixed well.
- 2). Soak clean cloths in the vinegar and sugar solution. Lay the cloths over the burnt-on foil and other stains stuck in your oven. Allow the vinegar-soaked cloths to remain on the surface for at least one hour.
- 3). Remove the vinegar cloths from the oven surface. Lift the loosened aluminum foil with your fingers or use the edge of a plastic scraper. Wipe away remnants of the foil with a damp cloth.
- 4). Fill a shallow bowl with 1/2 cup ammonia. Place it in the oven and close the door. Let the ammonia sit in the oven overnight. Turn on the exhaust fan above the oven to remove ammonia odor.
- 5). Take the bowl of ammonia out of the oven. Dip a sponge into the ammonia, and wipe down the interior of the oven, paying close attention to the area where the burnt-on foil has been removed. Rinse the sponge frequently in a bucket of water, apply more ammonia, and continue to clean the inside of the oven.
- 6). Rinse the inside of the oven with a clean cloth dampened with water. Dry the oven interior with dry cloths.
