How to Put on a Chatterbait
- 1). Run the end of the line through your fingers. Feel for coarse sections to determine if the line is damaged. Clip a short section from the line with line clippers. The end of your fishing line often has damage from previous outings and should always be checked.
- 2). Locate the round swivel on the chatter blade. The round opening is located immediately behind the blade. Feed the line through the round opening.
- 3). Rotate the lure to twist the line. Make eight full rotations and stop. Feed the end of the line through the gap at the base of the turns.
- 4). Locate the loop opening created when you feed the line through the gap. Pull the end of the line through the new loop opening. Pinch the end of the line against the lure in one hand. Pull the line above the wraps in the opposite hand to tighten the knot.
- 5). Clip the tag end of the line against the knot. Leave a small amount of line extending from the knot. This prevents the knot from slipping and breaking.
