Ford 2.5 Duratech Performance
- In 1994, Ford introduced a 2.5-liter, V6 engine in its European Ford Mondeo sedan. That engine was soon introduced into the North American Ford Contour and later in the European Ford Cougar. In the 1988 to 1990 Ford Contour SVT, this engine is rated at 200 horsepower and 169 pound-feet of torque, according to Autotropolis.
- Beginning in 2005, Ford discontinued its older four-cylinder engines for Mazda-derived powerplants ranging in size from 2.0 liters to 2.5 liters. This engine is rated at 171 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque.
- The 2.5-liter Duratec V6 is used in European Ford models. The Duractec four-cylinder engine is the base engine for the 2010 Ford Fusion sedan and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine is rated at 175 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 171 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. The 2010 Fusion fuel consumption is rated at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
