How to Remove the Dash on the 1985 BMW 325
- 1). Enter the driver's seat of your BMW. Locate the lever on the lower left-hand side of the seat to pop open the hood. Pull the lever. Open up the hood fully and find the battery. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt clamp attached to the negative terminal. Lift the negative cable off the terminal.
- 2). Locate the screws underneath the glove compartment. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the mounting screws. Carefully pull the glove box away from the dash. Remove the rest of the screws on the lower section of the dashboard. Remove the lower section from the vehicle.
- 3). Take out the mounting screws that hold the radio into the dash. Remove the electrical wiring from the rear and pull the radio and its bracket out of the dash.
- 4). Remove the rubber bezel from around the instrument cluster. Take out the three mounting screws that hold the cluster in place. Slide the cluster out of the dash and disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear. Pull the cluster out of the dash.
- 5). Remove the rest of the screws attached to the upper section of the dash. Remove each piece of the upper dash. Keep the screws for the electrical components in a safe place, as you will need to reattach them when you install the dash again.
