How to Use HP Notebook Computers

    • 1). Install important and helpful software programs that will help you with your everyday computing. Word processing programs and graphics software are some of the most common applications installed in computers. Also, decide on which operating system you want to use. An operating system serves as the platform for all installed programs in the computer. Examples of operating systems are Windows and Linux. Some HP laptops have pre-installed operating systems upon purchase.

    • 2). Use HP's wireless mobility. Most, if not all, of the latest HP laptops have built-in wireless capability. If the HP laptop you are using does not have this feature, you may purchase a wireless network adapter and install it to your laptop.

    • 3). Keep the battery charged before leaving your home if you travel often or you work on the field. Note that the battery life depends on the HP laptop model you are using, the installed applications on your laptop, the programs you use, computer peripherals attached to the computer and the power management settings. The "maximum capacity" of your battery may decrease depending on the above factors.

    • 4). Handle your HP laptop with care. To avoid major scratches on the laptop, use a silicon case and always put it inside a laptop bag when not in use. Place it in a cool, dry place where no dust or water can get into the laptop. Note that water spill can totally damage your laptop. Also use a "cooler pad" or other cooling devices to avoid overheating.

    • 5). Install anti-virus protection for your operating system and the programs installed in the computer. Remove files and programs that are no longer needed to make room for other more important files.
