    • 1). Cut a length of the trace wire approximately 30 inches long, using the wire cutters or scissors

    • 2). Heat a point on the wire two to three inches from one end, using a lighter. The wire will become flexible at this point. Bend the wire 180 degrees at the point that has been heated.

    • 3). Thread the folded end of the trace wire through the eye of the hook, creating a loop at the end of the trace wire.

    • 4). Place the loop over the hook and pull the other end of the trace wire, while holding onto the hook; this will tighten the trace wire securely to the hook's eye.

    • 5). Twist the short strand of the trace wire at the eye of the hook tightly around the main trace wire five to six times, so that each twist sits against the previous without overlapping. Using the wire cutters or scissors, cut off the excess piece of the short strand

    • 6). Thread the other end of the wire through the eye of the second hook, and position the hook approximately four inches above the eye of the first hook. Hold the hook in place and bend the wire down 180 degrees; hold it tightly against the body of the hook.

    • 7). Bend the trace wire so as to position the wire into the crevice between the treble hooks and back up along the body of the hook.

    • 8). Twist the wire around the shaft of the hook seven to eight times, moving back up the shaft of the hook with each twist, so that each twist sits above the previous one without overlapping

    • 9). Thread the end of the trace wire through the eye of the hook and pull it tight. Ensure the wire remains tight around the shaft of the hook

Repeat steps 2 through 5 to attach the swivel to the open end of the trace wire.
