How to Remove Tar From Motorcycle Pipes
- 1). Move the motorcycle to a well-ventilated location. Solvents contain strong odors and have extremely flammable vapors.
- 2). Put on rubber gloves and safety glasses. Solvents may injure eyes and skin on contact.
- 3). Pour a little solvent on to a clean rag. Place the rag over the tar for a few moments to allow the solvent to begin to break down the tar.
- 4). Rub the rag in a circular motion on the tailpipe to lift and remove the tar.
- 5). Apply more solvent to the rag to remove any remaining tar spots on the exhaust pipe.
- 6). Buff the exhaust pipe with chrome polish to remove any solvent residue.
