How to Add Memory to Acer Aspire One AA1

    • 1). Power off your Acer Aspire One AA1 and remove the power cable. Close the display screen.

    • 2). Turn the computer upside down and disconnect the battery from its bay.

    • 3). Remove all screws from the sides and corners of the underside of the computer, including the screws inside the battery bay.

    • 4). Turn the computer right-side up and open the display. Locate the plastic clips above the "Pause Break" key, the "F8" key and the "F2" key. Press the clips in.

    • 5). Lift the keyboard from the top and set it aside.

    • 6). Remove the screws from the side of the white panel covering the circuit board and unplug the touch pad cable from its port directly above the touch pad.

    • 7). Lift the entire top panel off the computer by its sides to expose the motherboard.

    • 8). Remove the two screws on the top of the left side of the motherboard. Lift the left side of the motherboard up at the seam where it meets the right side of the motherboard. You will be able to see the rectangular memory module on the back of the left side of the motherboard.

    • 9). Pry the retaining tabs on either end of the module outward to release the module from the compartment. Remove the module.

      Fit a new memory module in the old one's place and press down until the retaining tabs lock into place. Reverse the steps for reassembly.
