How to Comfortably Sit in a Desk
- 1). Rest your feet flat on the floor. If your feet do not reach the floor, find a foot rest that allows you to place your feet flat on top. Proper foot alignment helps to make the rest of your sitting posture comfortable and helps ensure adequate circulation in your legs.
- 2). Raise or lower your chair so that you can comfortably write or type on the desk's surface. Ideally, your forearms should create at a 90-degree angle from the rest of your body for all typing and writing. If you cannot change the height of your chair, consider purchasing a new chair that is the appropriate height.
- 3). Sit all the way back in the chair so that it supports your lower back. If you do not find the chair comfortable for your back, try resting a pillow between your lower back and the chair.
- 4). Sit tall with a straight spine. If you slouch, your back will eventually hurt and you will grow uncomfortable.
