Yamalube 2-W Specifications
- Yamaha Yamalube 2W, or 2-W, oil is a semi-synthetic injector oil designed for two-stroke engines used in Yamaha's line of personal watercraft, and is also known as marine oil. As a high-end motor oil, Yamalube 2W is specifically approved for use in Yamaha's high-performance watercraft engines found in Yahama Sport Boats and WaveRunners. According to Yamaha, Yamalube 2W oil is available in 1-quart bottles in quantities of 12; 1-gallon bottles in quantities of 4 and 2.5-gallon bottles quantities of 2, as of 2011. Larger volumes can be purchased in 55-gallon drums and individual bottles of the smaller volumes can be purchased individually from dealers.
- As an engine oil, Yamaha's Yamalube 2W reduces the deterioration of two-stroke engine parts by lubricating the moving components within the engine to keep the motor clean and cool. According to Yamaha, the specific formula of Yamalube 2W, designed for personal watercraft engines, provides optimum lubrication and protection from deterioration of high-performance engines that run at higher speeds and temperatures. Yamaha does not recommend using Yamalube 2W for outboard motors or land-use vehicles, such as motorcycle or all-terrain vehicles.
- According to Yamaha, Yamalube 2W motor oil formula provides enhances anti-wear and catalyst protection over other conventional lubricants designed for two-stroke personal watercraft engines. The oil inhibits corrosion and rust from forming on critical engine parts. It prevents pistons from burning out or scuffing, rings from sticking and spark plugs from fouling. As a non-phosphorus oil blend, Yamalube 2W is the only formula Yamaha recommends for use in engine models with the Yamaha Platinum Plus System. Using any other lubricant risks severely damage the engine's catalytic converter.
- Yamaha states that Yamalube 2W marine engine oil consists of high-grade, precision-blended, semi-synthetic lubricants to greatly reduce the amount of visible smoke when starting up the engine and while driving the watercraft. The company reports that using Yamalube 2W marine oil in two-stroke watercraft engines reduces smoke by up to 50 percent, compared to Yamaha's previous formula for watercraft engines.
