    Mac OS X

    • 1). Insert the flash drive into a free USB port. In a few seconds, the operating system will load the drive to give you access to the files held on it.

    • 2). Click on the Finder icon in the application dock. Finder shows displays drives and folders on the left side of the window. Locate the drive that represents the flash drive. By default, the drive might read "No Name", "USB" or a likewise generic title.

    • 3). Right-click on the flash drive icon, then click "Rename (Generic)". For example, if the generic title given to the flash drive is "No Name", you must click "Rename No Name."

    • 4). Type a new title for the flash drive, then hit "Enter" on the keyboard. The title can be any combination of letters and numbers, but you cannot use punctuation marks.

    Windows 7

    • 2). Right-click on the removable disk and select "Rename". The current title text becomes highlighted.

    • 3). Type a new title for the flash drive. You can use spaces, letters and numbers in the title, but no punctuation is allowed.
