    • 1). Check for excessive scoring on the rotor surface of the trailer wheels. If the rotor has excessive scoring, then the brakes will need to be changed. The rotor should be pretty smooth to the touch.

    • 2). Check for thin pad material.The pad material on the brake lining should be 1/8-inch thick. If it is less than this, then the pads need to be replaced.

    • 3). Check the brake hose for any deterioration, including cracks or leaks. Brake hoses supply the brake assembly with necessary hydraulic fluid. If the hoses are damaged, then the brakes won't work. The hoses need to be replaced if there is any sign of damage to the brake hose.
