Font Making Tutorial
- 1). Print the glyph template grid from your font creation software. This will produce a grid of boxes where you can design your font by hand. Fill in the grid with symbols you want to use as the letters, numbers and so on of your font. Scan the image back into the computer at as high a resolution as you can, then save it.
- 2). Load the saved file into your font creation software and use its glyph editing functions to alter the size and alignment of any symbols that are not aligned as you want them. At this stage, consider cleaning up any artifacts caused by the scanning process.
- 3). Run the font creation function to process your images and form the font. You should now be presented with a text box where you can test your font. If the size and alignment of each symbol are acceptable, save the font as a True Type font, or the Mac equivalent if desired. If any adjustments are required, return to the glyph editor to correct them, then run font creation again.
