How to Troubleshoot a Lennox G17 Furnace
- 1). Check to see if the fuse or circuit breaker needs to be reset or replaced if the Lennox G17 furnace does not operate or turn on. Replace or reset if necessary.
- 2). Turn the thermostat to the lowest setting if the pilot light goes out and needs to be relit. Turn off the furnace power and open the access panel. Turn the gas knob valve to "Off" and wait 15 minutes for any gas to leave the system. Turn the gas knob valve to "On" and close the access panel. The pilot light will automatically relight.
- 3). Remove the filter if the furnace is not performing as expected. Turn off the furnace and open the access panel. Use the finger loops to remove the springs holding the filter in, and pull out the filter. Rinse with cold water in the opposite direction of air flow through the filter. Air dry and then replace the filter in the unit. Reconnect the springs and close the access panel. Turn on power to the unit.
- 4). Clean the blower wheel with a clean, damp cloth if the blower fan is not operating as expected or is running excessively.
- 5). Contact a professional service technician if the issue remains.
