How to Reduce Tire Noise on an Infiniti G37 Coupe
- 1). Find a comfortable place to work on your car and set the emergency brake.
- 2). Place a wood or plastic block behind one of the tires you are not working on to keep the car from rolling.
- 3). Place the stock car jack under the front jack spot on the car, under the frame or axle.
- 4). Jack up the front tire and place a jack stand under the axle or frame of the car for added security.
- 5). Run your hand around the tread area of the tire to feel for uneven wear. If you find uneven wear on the tire, this is probably the reason for your tire noise and you should move on to the next step. If you find that the tires are wearing evenly, then it is likely that the tread pattern on your tires is noisy. You might consider changing to a new tire.
- 6). Move to the rear tire, feel the tread and visually inspect it. If the rear tire is smooth, then you will continue to rotate the tires so that the front tire will be on the rear and the rear tire on the front. Lower the jack in the front so that the car is supported on the jack stand. Jack up the rear tire.
- 7). Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts on the front and rear wheels by sliding the wrench over the lug nuts and turning counterclockwise.
- 8). Rotate the tires on that side of the car so that the front tire is on the rear and the rear tire on the front; tighten all lug nuts with the lug wrench.
- 9). Repeat the above rotation steps for the other side of the vehicle if you find that the other front tire has uneven wear and the rear tire is smooth. It will take miles of driving for the tires with uneven wear to smooth out and not cause road noise.
