How to Tie a Propeller Fly
- 1). Wrap several turns of fly-tying thread on the shank of your hook, at the location where you will be anchoring the bead.
- 2). Attach your propeller blade onto the shaft of your hook, with the spinner positioned to propel water in the direction of the hook.
- 3). Push the bead onto your hook, adding thread for snugness if necessary.
- 4). Slide the bead back off the thread wrap and apply a drop of the cement to fit it in place. Make sure it is positioned far enough down the shaft of your hook to allow free spinning of the propeller.
- 5). Finish tying your fly pattern once the cement has dried. You now have a completed propeller fly ready to be cast.
