How to Install XP on an NEC Versa P9210
- 1). Connect your laptop to its charger, and plug it in. It's important that the downgrade process is uninterrupted.
- 2). Turn on the computer, and hold the "F2" button as soon as graphics appear on the screen.
- 3). Use the arrow keys to select "Boot," and press "Enter."
- 4). Re-arrange the boot order to make sure that the CD-ROM drive is in the first position.
- 5). Open up the CD-ROM drive, and insert the Windows XP install disk.
- 6). Use the arrow keys to select "Exit," and press "Enter."
- 7). Select "Save and Exit," and press "Enter." The computer will restart.
- 8). Press any key on the keyboard at the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt.

Use the arrow keys to highlight the main system partition, and press "D." - 11
Press "Y," select the unpartitioned space and press "C." - 12
Press "Enter," select the "NTFS <quick." option and wait for the format process to finish. - 13
Select the partition you just created, and press "Enter." - 14
Wait for the Windows XP startup program to run; this could take up to an hour. When the computer reboots and displays the Windows XP startup animation, you can proceed. - 15
Follow the setup instructions, inputting your username, password and workgroup where appropriate. When the setup asks you for the Windows Product Key, check the retail packaging or sleeve of the install disk for the 25-digit key. Enter it carefully, and press "Next." - 16
Continue the setup until it reboots.
