How to Get Tons of Caps on "Fallout 3"
- 1). Search buildings for metal boxes, cash registers, dressers, desks and other containers. Search containers for any item that can be sold for Caps. Pre-war clothing items, pre-war money, tin cans, milk bottles, scorched books, cups, forks and plungers are just a few examples of items found frequently throughout the game in almost any location. While the sale value of these items is often only a few Caps, they are usually lightweight and you can carry a lot of them to sell to merchants throughout the game. Selling non-essential items is a quick way to earn a lot of Caps.
- 2). Consume Nuka-Cola to regain hit points in the game. You can find Nuka-Cola in vending machines, in refrigerators or sitting out on desks and counters throughout the game. Every time you consume a bottle of Nuka-Cola from your inventory, you will receive a Cap. Be sure to carry RAD Away, however, because Nuka-Cola will add one RAD to your health each time you drink one because the soda is irradiated.
- 3). Complete Slaver missions in Paradise Falls. You will need to have Evil or Very Evil karma to gain entrance to Paradise Falls. If you have Neutral, Good or Very Good karma, you can buy your way into the Slaver camp for 500 Caps. You can also enter if you capture one of the targets in the Strictly Business mission. Upon gaining entrance to the camp, you will be given a Mesmetron gun and a slave collar in order to enslave an NPC. For every non-essential NPC you Mezz with the Mesmetron and place a collar on, you will be awarded 250 Caps upon return to Paradise Falls. Slaving can be a profitable way to quickly earn Caps, but you will lose karma for every character you enslave.
- 4). Sell scrap metal to Walter in Megaton. Walter is in the water filtration building. After you fix all of the leaky pipes throughout Megaton, Walter will pay you 10 Caps for every piece of scrap metal you bring him. You will also receive positive karma. Scrap metal can be found in toolboxes and metal containers throughout the Capital Wasteland.
- 5). Sell Sugar Bombs to Murphy in Northwest Seneca Station. Sugar Bombs are a common food item found in miscellaneous containers as well as on shelves and on counters in buildings throughout the Wasteland. For every box of Sugar Bombs you sell, Murphy will give you 15 Caps. If your speech skill is high enough, you can also complete a speech check to raise the price to 30 Caps per box.
- 6). Search fallen enemies for items you can sell. Animals will have various items in their inventory, including meat, claws and venom glands. Raiders and other human enemies will have armor, guns, ammunition, aid and other items. Take anything that can be sold to merchants throughout the Capital Wasteland to earn Caps.
- 7). Choose the Law Bringer or Contract Killer perk as soon as they are available to you. The Law Bringer perk will cause all evil characters you kill to have a finger in their inventory that can be taken and sold at the Regulators Headquarters. The Contract Killer perk will cause all good characters you kill to have an ear in their inventory that can be taken and sold at the Scrapyard Office. These perk allow you to earn extra Caps every time you kill a character that corresponds to the perk. If you are playing for good karma, choose the Law Bringer Perk. If you are playing for Evil karma, choose the Contract Killer perk.
