How to Replace a Primer Bulb for a Sears Gas Blower
- 1). Shut off the small control valve, called the "petcock," at the tank-end of the fuel line. Turn the small T-shaped handle clockwise to close the valve.
- 2). Locate the existing primer bulb near the engine-end of the fuel line. Rotate the ring counterclockwise using adjustable pliers to loosen and remove the metal retention ring holding the rubber bulb.
- 3). Scrape the lip of the primer bulb seat to remove any residual bulb rubber that may have adhered to the engine surface using a utility knife.
- 4). Feed the new primer bulb into the metal ring. Press the bulb fully into the ring so that the rubber lip fits fully into the threaded side of the ring.
- 5). Thread the metal ring onto the primer inlet and hand-tighten it to mount the new bulb on the engine. Turn the metal ring about 1/4 turn using pliers to snug the ring.
- 6). Twist the fuel petcock handle counterclockwise to open it. Push on the new primer bulb several times to siphon some gas into the carburetor, and start the engine as usual.
