Definition

• A logic board, commonly referred to by IBM computer systems as a motherboard, is the printed circuit board that holds many of the essential components for the computer. Logic boards typically include such hardware elements as a chip-set interface, slots for expansion cards and memory chips, a battery and a power connection.
  
  

Function

• The logic board sends and receives data to various computer components. It also provides the timing mechanism and logic to coordinate computing activities and programs. The logic board contains hardware components such as the CPU and RAM memory, as well as the ports for connecting peripheral devices such as the video display, mouse and audio devices.

• Logic boards come in various types, depending on the brand of Apple Macintosh computer, iPhone or other Apple product.
