How do I Fit Dzus?
- 1). Place the body panel onto the frame at the exact place it needs to be positioned. This is the most critical part of the process, and must be done precisely.
- 2). Place a Dzus receptacle at specific and symmetrical areas on the inside of the body panel for maximum holding capability near the ends. Keep the rivet dimple side out. The base of the Dzus receptacle must rest upon the frame. As a placement example, a straight body panel 4-foot long would have one Dzus receptacle placed at 3-inches from the end on either side, and two more might be placed at 16-inches inward of those receptacles. Placement, however, is entirely up to the user and their needs.
- 3). Mark the Dzus fastener center stud hole and the rivet holes with a marker.
- 4). Drill out the holes on the body panel that correspond to the stud size and the rivet size. A step drill will enable you to drill out the exact diameters with only one drill bit.
- 5). Remove the receptacles from the frame and rivet the springs onto the receptacle. The springs look like a stylized "S," and the ends of the "S" will be held on by the rivet button. The actual spring itself will cross behind the stud opening. When the stud is placed inside of the receptacle and turned, a notch on the stud will grab the spring and pull it tightly together. When the springs are properly riveted, the rivet heads will conform nicely to the dimpled recess on the receptacle plate.
- 6). Place the body panel back onto the frame with the receptacles attached. Tack weld the corners of the receptacle in place onto the frame, then remove the stud and take the body part off.
- 7). Weld the receptacles onto the frame at the place where they have been tack welded. Always weld on the back side of the receptacles so that the weld does not interfere with the body panel setting.
