What Does a Panic Attack Feel Like?

Panic attacks are one of the scariest experiences you will ever have.
To those that get hit with one of these attacks for the first time and don't know what these attacks are, it can seem like they are having a heart attack or stroke.
Even those that are familiar with the attacks tend to think that they are dying when they experience them.
Not all panic attacks are the same for everyone, and people have varying degrees of attacks.
However, for the most part, the attacks start with a racing heart.
Something could trigger this event, like anxiety, or it may even be spontaneous.
And then comes the heavy breathing which many people describe as an inability to catch their breath.
Some people also have hot flashes.
All of these experiences leave the person in a state of fear.
To many people this condition sounds like something that isn't too difficult to bear.
The problem is, they've never experienced it.
It's commonly described as "losing control of your body" or an "absolute frightening" experience.
Those that are stricken with this condition fear public events since it may bring on anxiety, which could in turn spark an attack.
They end up isolating themselves and not living their lives to the fullest.
The public understanding of the condition also leaves those that suffer with it lacking proper support.
Most people just don't understand it, or they don't believe it is a real condition, so they question the person dealing with it.
This makes it especially hard for the victim to try and have a normal life.
