Calibration Tips for Projectors
- To get an idea of the spectrum of sharpness available on your projector, simply adjust all sharpness levels up to their maximum and minimum settings, then examine how the quality of a picture or video changes with the adjustment. Start by going all the way up to a maximum setting, then slowly, bring it down until the hard edges disappear. Adjust the sharpness until those edges become crisp.
- Hue can be adjusted by using a sample picture that has many colors. Adjusting the hues from extreme ends will turn the image from green to red, or vice-versa. To obtain a natural-looking image, adjust the hue levels somewhere in the middle. This is subjective, so keep on adjusting until you achieve the look that you want.
Saturation refers to the boldness of the colors in an image or video. To calibrate this, increase the saturation level all the way up, then all the way down to its minimum level. This way you get to see both extremes. At the minimum level, the image will be black and white, while at the maximum level, color will be vibrant and tinted.
You should use an image that has several flesh tones during the calibration. Try to focus on the skin areas and observe their colors as you adjust the levels. Continue adjusting the levels until you obtain the most natural-looking image. - Start the calibration by adjusting the contrast levels all the way up, and then all the way down. Examine the image and how it changes at different levels. At the maximum level, the image will be extremely bright, and the picture details will be highly accentuated. At the minimum level, picture details will be blurry.
Adjust the levels up and down until you see shadows in the white portions of the image. You may want to also adjust the brightness levels for this one. When adjusting brightness, do it in a dark room. When adjusting the levels up and down, keep an eye on the white portions of the image. White should remain white, and not appear gray. If the whites do turn to grey, the levels are too low. Simply go up and down in levels until you achieve the desired look for the image.
