How to Make Fluke Rigs

    • 1). Cut a 20-inch length of 20-lb. fishing line.

    • 2). Tie a snap swivel to one end and clip a 1 oz. pyramid sinker to the snap.

    • 3). Thread the line through one end of a pre-looped wire expander about 10 inches down the line, then thread the end of the fishing line two more times through the wire loop and pull tight.

    • 4). Pull the snell (pre-looped fishing line) through the other wire loop in the expander, then thread the hook through the snell loop in the line and pull tight. You now have one hook attached to the end of a wire expander on your fluke rig.

    • 5). Thread two-three plastic chartreuse beads onto the end of the 20-lb. line rig, top with a chartreuse propeller and two-three more beads.

    • 6). Attach a second wire expander near the top of the rig, looping the line through the wire loop at least three times to secure.

    • 7). Loop a second snelled hook through the wire expander, insert the hook through the loop in the line and pull tight. You now have a rig with two fluke hooks dangling at different heights.

    • 8). Thread two-three chartreuse beads onto the end of the rig, top with a propeller and add two-three beads on top of the prop.

    • 9). Tie a swivel to the end of the rig using an improved clinch knot (see reference section for a link to the knot illustration). This swivel will attach to your main line.
