How to Take Attendance With a SMART Board
- 1). Visit the link for the "Excel file" under resources and download the file to your computer.
- 2). Open the Excel file and make a mental note of the different tab names.
- 3). Click "view" in Excel and click on the "Macros" button. Choose "view macros" from the menu that will appear.
- 4). View the macro list that appears. Select any macro and click on "edit" to open the macro editor.
- 5). Click on "edit" and then select "replace" from the drop-down menu.
- 6). Type the following into the "'replace" box:
Type the original first tab name (see Step 1) into the "Find What" box (e.g. 'Tab 1').
Type what you would like to replace this tab as in the "Replace With" box (e.g. 'Class 4a').
Select "Current Project" under search.
Click on "Replace All."
Repeat this for each tab that you wish to use. - 7). Select "File" from the macro editor's menu and then click on "Save."
- 8). Select "File," again from the macro editor's menu, and click on "Close and return to Microsoft Excel."
- 9). Rename each hour tab with its new name. Save your work.

Tell your students to touch their name/number on the board as they enter the room to record their attendance.
