How to Fit Bath Taps
- 1). Turn off the water supply by closing the shut-off valve for the main water line.
- 2). Pry the plastic cover off of each tap by using the flat head screwdriver. Take off the cover to expose a screw.
- 3). Remove the screw with the Phillips head screwdriver. Twist the old taps off of the pipe. If the taps will not turn, you can use an adjustable wrench.
- 4). Measure the diameter of the pipe with the tape measure. Make a note of the measurement on a piece of paper. The replacement taps need to match the diameter of the pipe.
- 5). Apply plumber's tape around the threads on the pipe. Place the washer over the pipe and then twist on the new taps.
- 6). Secure the tap to the pipe with the screw using the Phillips head screwdriver. Press the plastic cover on the tap.
- 7). Open the shut-off valve to turn on the water. Open the new taps to make sure they work correctly.
