Propolene Side Effects
- Propolene is a weight-loss supplement sold in tablet form. This supplement contains glucomannan, a naturally occurring fiber found in fruits, vegetables and beans. Glucomannan in Propolene supplements is derived from the konjac root. Konjac root has been used to cleanse the intestines and bowel system. When taken with water, glucomannan in Propolene is thought to induce weight loss due to the gel-like consistency the tablets, which creates a feeling of fullness in the body. There are side effects associated with glucomannan, though not directly cited on the Propolene packaging.
Follow dosage instructions on the Propolene packaging to avoid additional side effects. According to the Propolene website, a maximum of three tablets may be taken daily with each meal. Individuals should not exceed more than nine tablets per day. Tablets should be taken 15 to 30 minutes before each meal. A gradual increase of fiber in the diet may prevent sudden symptoms and discomfort. - Diarrhea is a possible side effect of taking diet supplements such as Propolene, due to the glucomannan. Individuals with low fiber intake are more prone to varying levels of severity in relation to diarrhea, and gradual increase in fiber intake is recommended to prevent this uncomfortable condition. Individuals who experience severe diarrhea should stop taking this product and consult a doctor.

Blood sugar levels could be altered through intake of this ingredient, leading to potentially harmful side effects.
