Glucomannan in Propolene supplements is derived from the konjac root. Konjac root has been used to cleanse the intestines and bowel system. When taken with water, glucomannan in Propolene is thought to induce weight loss due to the gel-like consistency the tablets, which creates a feeling of fullness in the body. There are side effects associated with glucomannan, though not directly cited on the Propolene packaging.

Follow dosage instructions on the Propolene packaging to avoid additional side effects. According to the Propolene website, a maximum of three tablets may be taken daily with each meal. Individuals should not exceed more than nine tablets per day. Tablets should be taken 15 to 30 minutes before each meal. Ingest each tablet with 8 oz. of water.
