If you're looking for something to do in Miami, fishing is a great way to take advantage of the beautiful ocean and have some fun. Whether a family outing or a business one, renting a fishing charter can provide fun and excitement for the day. Just remember, your first mate's tips are usually not included in the rate. Captain Orlando has more than 20 years experience with sailfish, dolphin, kingfish, wahoo, tuna, and tarpon. His boat, a 25-foot SeaVee can accommodate up to four people. NOMAD specializes in offshore and near-shore light tackle sport fishing that includes kite fishing, live bait, wreck, bottom, jigging, and fly fishing. The type of fishing is determined by the season and the weather at the time of the charter. Charters are booked by the half-day (four hours), ¾-day (six hours), full-day (eight hours), and four- and six-hour tarpon trips. As of September 2010, a half-day rate was $450, ¾-day runs $525, and a full day is $600. A four-hour tarpon trip is $425, and six hours is $525.

The Sea Cross is between Miami and Fort Lauderdale and can take you just about anywhere you want to fish, including the Bahamas. With two boats to choose from, rates vary slightly from one to the other. A half-day trip aboard Sea Cross I, a 36-foot Hatteras, is $550. Aboard the Sea Cross II, a 45-foot Hatteras, it is $650. A ¾-day trip on the Sea Cross I is $700, while aboard the Sea Cross II it is $800. Full-day trips are $850 and $1,000 respectively. Summer evening trips are also available, starting at $600. These prices include up to six people, and Bahamas trips require a two-day minimum.
