How to Make a Crabbing Net

    • 1). Place the two metal rings or hoops flat on the ground. Place the smaller hoop inside the center of the larger hoop.

    • 2). Place the nylon netting over the top of the two metal rings. Lay it out square with the metal rings in the middle of the square, beneath it.

    • 3). Tie five or six cable ties around the perimeter of the smaller metal ring and through the netting. Pull each cable tie as tightly as possible to hold the netting firmly in place. Use the scissors to trim the tail of the cable ties.

    • 4). Lift up the smaller metal ring approximately 3 feet from the ground. The netting lifts with it and drapes around the ring. Then, get your helper to hold the ring at that height and position while you attach the cable ties around the larger metal ring to secure the netting in place, once again. Use more cable ties since the perimeter of the larger ring is bigger.

    • 5). Trim the excess tail off the cable ties and trim the excess netting that extends beyond the rim of the larger ring.

    • 6). Attach each length of rope at three equal points around the perimeter of the larger metal ring. Gather the ropes and tie them in a knot. Lift up the crabbing net where the ropes are tied. The two rings and the net will be suspended from the ropes.
