Acer Aspire & Operating System Compatibility
Windows
The Aspire is capable of running Windows Vista and would likely be able to run Windows 7. It can also go backwards and be compatible with Windows XP, which is good for users who prefer the classic Windows style.
Linux
The Aspire meets the minimum system requirements of the major distribution of Linux, including Ubuntu, Fedora and Debian. Of the three, Debian requires the fewest resources, while Fedora requires the most.
Mac
While the OS X operating system is made especially for Macs, there are several PCs and netbooks that are considered compatible with OS X. While the Acer Aspire is largely not compatible, the Aspire One -- the netbook version of the Acer Aspire -- is considered very compatible. The website Hackintosh offers a number of tutorials and explanations for installing OS X on your netbook or PC.
