How to Build a Pokeman Deck

    • 1). Obtain a variety of Pokemon cards either online or from your local hobby store. Your final deck should hold 60 cards. As a beginner, aim to have around 20 Basic Evolution cards, 30 Basic Energy cards, and 10 Trainer cards.

    • 2). Go through all of your Pokemon cards and separate them into three piles: common cards (there is a circle in the bottom right corner of the card), uncommon cards (a star) and rare cards (a diamond.) By doing this you are learning the status of each card that you own and getting a basic feel as to what kinds of card are classified as uncommon or rare.

    • 3). Study up on every Pokemon card available. This is most easily done online, but you can also read about different Pokemon cards in magazines that cater to Pokemon fans. Learn what each card does, how it's used and how powerful it is in-game. Once you've learned about the cards you specifically have, study up on all the other cards as well.

    • 4). Create a game plan with your cards. You must choose a unique combination featuring different Pokemon, Trainer and Energy cards. There are no specific rules on how to choose or even which cards to choose, as there isn't an exact formula for a deck that will win every single time. You will learn what works for you by playing with others and trying out different combinations of your deck.
