    Longest Wheelbase

    • The 1941 Chevrolets all rode on a 116-inch wheelbase, 3 inches longer than in 1940 and the longest ever for Chevrolet. The standard engine was a refined 90-HP, six-cylinder inline engine displacing 216.5 cubic inches that was dubbed the “Victory Six.” According to ConceptCarz.com, power was sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed synchromesh manual transmission. The car weighed 3,050 pounds.

    Million Car Year

    • Chevrolet built 1.009 million passenger cars and 650,000 trucks in 1941 and was anticipating an even better year for 1942. But those plans changed radically following the December 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, that thrust the United States into World War II.

    Business Coupe Production

    • The five-window Business Coupe for 1941 came in two trim levels, according to AutoGallery. The basic Master DeLuxe, with minimal trim and plain cloth upholstery, was priced at $712. Chevrolet produced 48,763 of this version.

    Upscale Model

    • For an additional $58, you could upgrade to the Special DeLuxe package that included additional chrome body trim, nice corded cloth upholstery and a woodgrain dash. Chevy built 17,602 of this version. The total 66,365 Business Coupes comprised about 7 percent of Chevrolet’s passenger car production for 1941.

    Many Options Offered

    • All Chevrolet buyers in 1941 could choose from a wide variety of factory-installed and dealer-installed accessories to personalize their Business Coupes and other models. According to ConceptCarz.com, some of the available options included rear fender skirts, chrome bumper guards, fog lights, corrugated chrome front fender trim, AM radio and even a shortwave radio.
