Contemporary uses for snoods include weddings or formal events. These fashion nets may be embellished with jewels and lace to match an outfit, hair color or event.

    Food Industry

    • Traditional hairnets are used in the food service industry. Most states require food service workers to adorn hairnets to avoid contamination of food products. Furthermore, food production workers also may be required to wear hairnets at work. Occupations such as fast food workers, food prep employees and mixing or blending production workers use hairnets.

    Health Industry

    • Members of the health care industry, such as surgeons, nurses and lab technicians also might don a hairnet. Hairnets keep stray strands from getting in the face which can cause a distraction during a health procedure. While hairnets are not traditional wear for health aides, they can be used in addition to the typical scrub attire.
