Niche Internet Marketing - Adversity Without Diversity
A very popular cliche for those in our field of work is "Putting all your eggs in one basket".
I completely agree with this way of thinking, but wanted to coin a new term to describe it, so here we are with Adversity Without Diversity! (Catchy huh?) Perhaps you have spent the majority of your time building Niche Sites with either BANS or phpBay or (insert your favorite type of site here...
).
Hopefully in your time invested in making these sites you have learned an efficient and time/cost effective way of producing sites that do well for you.
This of course, is not a bad thing at all! Consider this example for a moment though.
Let's say you creating eBay affiliate sites exclusively.
What would happen to your business (you do treat niche stores like a business, right?) if all of a sudden ePN terminated your affiliate account for whatever reason? Would you have a backup plan? Would you have alternate monetization methods you could quickly implement throughout your network of sites to minimize the financial loss? Without Diversity in your website portfolio, this scenario would be absolutely devastating.
It would be Adversity at its worst! So how can we plan ahead so this does not happen to us? A crucial thing you have to realize when it comes to the whole Adversity Without Diversity concept is that it encourages you to broaden your expertise.
For example, I myself used to make solely nothing but eBay affiliate sites.
I still do make these sites and make passive income from them every month, but I also realized that it may not be in my best interests to focus on that one niche site method alone.
So what did I do? I started fervently researching other types of website people are making money with online.
AdSense sites, Affiliate sites, Creating your own product, etc.
Now, while I may not be a master at all of these methods, I can certainly consider myself more of a "jack of all trades".
The great thing about this is that not only do I continue to have a solid method for creating eBay sites, but with every "other" type of niche site I create using other methods, I take steps towards becoming a "master" of that method as well.
Before I know it, I hope to be an authoritative expert on not just one, but several methods of making money online with niche websites of various types! I hope you realize the potential power of adding diversity to your internet marketing knowledge bank.
I cannot stress enough how enlightening and helpful it has been to me.
