How to Change a Belt on a Front Load Kenmore Dryer
- 1). Unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet and then remove the lint screen from the top of the dryer.
- 2). Remove the two screws located under the lint screen with a screwdriver.
- 3). Slide a putty knife between the top of the dryer at the front corner and press in to release the retaining clip. Repeat this on the other side of the dryer. Lift the top up and lean it against the back wall.
- 4). Remove the screws that hold the lower toe-kick panel in place and then pull the panel off to the side.
- 5). Remove the screws that secure the front panel in place. This includes the two screws that you must access from the hole created by lifting the top and the two screws that you can access after removing the toe-kick panel.
- 6). Place a wooden block under the front of the dryer drum to support it. Lean the drum forward slightly to create slack on the belt.
- 7). Pull the drive belt off the dryer drum and then slide the belt off the pulley on the drum motor. Discard the old belt.
- 8). Install the new belt onto the drum and pulleys, and then place the drum back into the upright position.
- 9). Reassemble the dryer in the opposite manner in which you disassembled it.
